Helen Keller is excited to welcome three new senior leaders to our global team whose track records for delivering results will help drive long-term success and strengthen the organization’s impact and operational efficiency.

Each brings significant expertise and proven leadership experience in international development that are deeply relevant to Helen Keller’s mission and strategy.

Angela Weaver

In January 2020, Dr. Angela Weaver joined Helen Keller Intl in the role of Vice President of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), based in New York.

A public health professional with over 19 years of experience supporting, developing, managing, and leading domestic and international health programs and initiatives, Angela was Senior Advisor for Neglected Tropical Diseases at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) after serving as Technical Advisor for NTDs at USAID.

She was instrumental in launching USAID’s NTD program and leading its expansion from 12 to 25 countries during her overall 12-year tenure. Angela also worked in the Maternal and Child Health Division of USAID as a technical advisor, following previous positions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Cancer Society, and elsewhere.

Susan is a seasoned senior leader, creative fundraising strategist, and external relations expert who has built, restructured, and led high-performing teams for major international development organizations, as well as for national nonprofits.

Her transformative leadership at, most recently, the Rubin Museum of Art, as well as at Pro Mujer, International Rescue Committee, UNICEF USA, Planned Parenthood Federation of America, and Barnard College, significantly increased revenue; rallied new donors, media, and thought leaders; and strengthened brand awareness, positioning, and market share to advance these organizations respective missions.

Jim Cox

In February 2020, Jim Cox joined Helen Keller Intl as Chief Operating Officer, based in Washington, D.C. Jim has 25 years of senior management experience in the field and in the US offices of international development organizations.

He comes to Helen Keller directly from Lutheran World Relief- IMA World Health (LWR-IMA), where he was Executive Vice President of Health and Emergency Programs. He was Chief Operating Officer for IMA World Health for nearly five years, after serving as Country Director for IMA in Tanzania for five years.

Jim’s expertise in program management includes emergency interventions, as well as livelihoods and health initiatives in partnership with vulnerable communities and major donor agencies including USAID, DFID, UN agencies, and private foundations. He has also improved global operational efficiency for IMA World Health and United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), where he held various positions over ten years, including that of Executive Director.

We are thrilled to welcome these impactful changemakers and sector leaders to Helen Keller Intl as part of our ongoing commitment to empower communities and deliver life-changing health care to vulnerable families in places where the need is great, but access is limited.
