Zimbabwe: Malnutrition - Underlying Cause of Child Mortality

An article published in discusses the different measures being taken in Zimbabwe to reduce child deaths, including addressing childhood malnutrition. Several Essential Nutrition Actions are mentioned, particularly exclusive breastfeeding through the first six months of a child's life, and vitamin A supplementation. HKI's Nutrition Program Officer in Zimbabwe, Tendai Gunda, is also quoted. 

Since 2005, HKI has been helping coordinate vitamin A supplementation in the country to lessen the high prevalence of vitamin A deficiency.
