"Bless the Orange Sweet Potato"

Nicholas Kristof writes about how specially bred orange-fleshed sweetpotatoes are helping provide sight-and life-saving vitamin A to children in Africa.  Helen Keller International is working in Africa to promote the production and consumption of these sweetpotatoes among women and children.

As Kristof writes, "Children have been dying for lack of vitamin A, iron and zinc for thousands of generations. These new seeds may finally help end the scourge of starvation in this century, on our watch. And that’s a special reason to give thanks."
