Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – A statement issued by the Technical Consultative Committee (TCC) of the African Programme for Onchocerciasis Control (APOC) in response to the article published in the Lancet by Osei-Atweneboana MY, Eng JKL, Boakye D, et al in June 16, 2007 concludes that ivermectin (Mectizan®) remains effective for control of onchocerciasis.
