On Sunday, January 25, 2015, the New Jersey-based Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale performed their winter concert to raise awareness and money for our U.S. Vision program in the greater Newark area. Helen Keller provides free in-school vision screenings and new prescription eyeglasses to children in high-poverty communities in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and Ohio.

The concert, titled “Through the Eyes of a Child,” featured music centered on a child’s perception of life and the world around them, said Michele Alford, the Chorale’s artistic director. “ChildSight was an obvious choice of charities for our young choristers this year. The program’s dedication to helping young people see more clearly resonated with these young singers and seemed a perfect fit for their concert theme,” she added.

Since its founding in 2006, the Hopewell Valley Youth Chorale has provided music in service to the community at hospitals and senior facilities.  In keeping with its motto “Bringing Hope through Song,” the Youth Chorale has also raised donations for projects in disadvantaged urban areas and disaster relief domestically as well as water supply projects in remote villages around the world.
