The Helen Keller Centennial Society

In 2005, Helen Keller International celebrated its 90th Anniversary. The Board of Trustees saw this symbolic point in time as heralding an exciting opportunity: a ten year horizon culminating in HKI’s Centennial Celebration in 2015 — a specific span of time to frame our focus as never before on pursuing the elimination of preventable blindness and malnutrition.

To recognize visionary and generous individuals who support our efforts, HKI has created the Helen Keller Centennial Society. Members of the Centennial Society are individuals who make unrestricted charitable gifts of $1,000 or more through HKI’s Annual Campaign.

Helen Keller Centennial Society members have a very special relationship with HKI. For example, members are invited as guests to attend the Annual Leadership Reception where they can meet members of the international community. They receive special recognition in HKI’s World View newsletter and in the annual report. In addition, members receive special reports and publications about HKI’s progress in the elimination of preventable blindness and malnutrition. At the Advocate level, members receive invitations to attend special meetings with HKI program experts. At higher levels, members are extended invitations to have breakfast with President and CEO Kathy Spahn, to attend a special HKI-Europe event in Paris, and to design their own trips to HKI programs in Asia and Africa.
